Astron Who?...
Astron-6 was founded in 1980 by six filmmakers allegedly “fed up” with
the Canadian filmmaking system (notably ACTRA and IATSE). In an attempt
to cash in on the recent success of Conan: The Barbarian, and the
popularity of Dungeons and Dragons, the Astron-6 team conceived
Goreblade as the commercially viable concept they needed to finance
future productions. Unfortunately, after only one week in thirty six
theatres, Goreblade: Warrior King of the Universe officially bombed,
and remains to this day the only feature film ever produced by
Astron-6.
The movie did eventually attain a certain cult status on Beta and VHS,
though copies remain very difficult to find. This is because Astron-6
distributed Goreblade and Astron-6 was not a distribution company.
